Tooth Fairy Story
So yesterday, Avery lost her tooth at school. She walked around all day with a sticker on her shirt that said, “I lost a tooth!”. They even gave her a small plastic ‘tooth’ big enough to hold her actual tooth. Happiness could not even begin to explain how this made her feel.
After school, she did her usual playtime on the playground with her friends and brother. That is when she lost her tooth. She was devastated! Her biggest concern was that the Tooth Fairy wouldn’t come to visit her that night. Her dad and I quickly assured her that things like this happen all the time. In fact, it happened to us. My fake story was that my own mom vacuumed up my tooth when I was young. Adding to the story, I went on to tell her that I wrote a letter to the TF and low and behold he/she came. (We have decided that the TF is a girl).
Here are some pics taken before bedtime. I must say that this morning was full of awe and joy! Avery even claimed to be “awesome at finding clues”, then proceeded to look around for chairs pulled out from the TF, papers shuffled, and rugs pushed around.
This is what being a parent is all about. For all the hard work, something like this really makes me so….happy…and realizing that I need to slow down and really enjoy this innocence.

My son crawled into bed with me in the middle of the night. I asked him this morning, “Why did you come into my bed last night?” He said, “Mom, I don’t remember, I think it was magic.”
Ahhh, it was magic. Duh!
I wanted to include some pictures of Avery and William from the summer. They have had a great summer here in Grand Rapids! Some of our favorites have been camping with friends and family and hitting the Orchard Hills pool. I signed them up for camps where they have met all sorts of new friends, too!
